What is a quantity take-off and when do you need it
A quantity take-off is the measuring of works and materials from the drawings. The result is the bill of quantities (BOQ): a structured list of items, each described and quantified. In Italy the same document is called “computo metrico”.
Add unit prices and you get a priced BOQ, the basis for supplier quotations, project budgets and cost control. Without a reliable take-off, two suppliers price different scopes and their offers cannot be compared.
You typically need a quantity take-off at three points: before sending RFQs to suppliers, when you have quotations that don’t share the same scope, and when you have to quote a tender or a job with numbers you can defend in front of the client.

Do you also work on home renovations?
No. I work on complex fit-outs for contractors, studios and general contractors. For a residential renovation quote, a local surveyor or builder is the better fit.
Can I request only the take-off, without the quotation comparison?
Yes. The three paths are independent: you can start with the take-off alone and add the other steps later.
How long does it take?
It depends on the volume of documents. Scope and timing are agreed before we start.
